Google x L’Oreal x Maybelline Erase The NoiseClient: Google × L’Oréal × MaybellineProject: Erase the NoiseRole: Director + AI Creative Director + Client LeadProduction: Brainclub 5000Deliverables: Hero film + 30, 15 and 10-second cutdowns + market variantsTimeline: October 2025 - January 2026

"Erase the Noise". AI brand campaign for Veo 3. Director, client lead and production.

Most beauty advertising rests on two things: a face and the product in someone's hand. This brief ruled out both. No human faces, no product in use, and everything inside L'Oréal's Responsible AI guidelines.
What was left was the feeling, so I built the film around the essence of the product, the calm the concealer creates as an experience of New York. Known for being the city that never sleeps, I juxtaposed the noise of New York with the elemental effect of the Instant Eraser Concealer to erase the noise, rendered in Veo 3, including showing New York in a way that that cannot be shot.

I was selected after L'Oréal reviewed proposals from several AI directors, then ran the client relationship alongside the direction through to delivery: hero film plus 30, 15 and 10 second cutdowns, multiple variations of each, launching across several markets.

It premiered at the France YouTube Festival at the Opéra Comique in Paris, in front of an audience of around a thousand advertisers and media agencies. Google produced its own case study film about the project, featuring myself and the Head of AI innovation from L’Oreal.

	BOXFRESH City 2 City

Client: BoxfreshProject: City 2 City - A Shared MemoryRole: Director + AI Creative DirectorProduction: Brainclub 5000 & IconoclastDeliverables: Hero film + 15 cutdownsTimeline: Six weeks

Press:
https://www.thedrum.com/news/inside-omar-karim-s-ai-first-reinvention-of-boxfresh-s-history

Brand launch film and social campaign. Director and AI Creative Director. Produced with Iconoclast.

One hero film, 50 cut downs, thirty years of culture. Boxfresh was relaunching to an audience with no memory of it, so the film became the memory: a timeline from 1994 to today, moving through the moments that defined inner-city culture. Getting ready. Leaving. Transit. The queue. The secret party. The comedown after. The same actions repeating across three decades while the surfaces change around them, vinyl to tapes to LimeWire to streaming. Boxfresh sits inside all of it as cultural hardware: worn, handled, present, never announced. The brand is not the subject of the film. It is part of the fabric the film moves through.

The structure is deliberately non-linear, and that came out of a conversation with Luke Hodgson, who understands the Meta ads platform as well as anyone I have worked with. His point was that the feed does not hand you ninety seconds, it hands you moments, and most people will meet the film somewhere in the middle of it. So I designed City2City to hold attention in micro bursts across 1:30. Every few seconds is a complete scene with its own decade, its own texture and its own payoff. Drop in anywhere and it works. Watch the whole thing and the scenes assemble into a lineage. The same design is what makes the variants possible: a film built from self-contained moments can be recut, reordered and versioned without breaking.

Underneath it sits Latent Ethnography. Agentic and deep research collected cultural references across the whole timeline, organised inside the AI to reflect each moment in time. The generative approach let us hold the balance between hyperrealism and cultural iconography without infringing trademarks or tipping into nostalgia, and every variant in the campaign generates from that one system.

The job was awarded at the end of January. Final delivery, including cutdowns, voiceover and sound design, was four weeks later. Live across Meta platforms now in multiple variants.

Giggs - The Homecoming, GALA festivalClient: GALA Festival Project: Giggs - The HomecomingRole: Director + AI Creative DirectorProduction: Brainclub 5000 & IconoclastDeliverables: 16:9 hero film + cutdownsTimeline: Six Weeks, January 2026

Festival announcement film and social campaign for GALA '26. Director and AI Creative Director. Produced with Iconoclast.

One postcode, one icon, one lifetime. GALA was announcing Giggs as a headliner in Peckham Rye Park, a local hero returning to the streets that made him, and the film had to feel like it was made by those streets, not about them. So Peckham isn't the backdrop. It's the witness. The film travels through Giggs' memories in the spaces they happened: an estate walkway that becomes a corridor of memory, a market that never stops moving, the park folding in on itself, a Street Fighter II bout playing out on the pavement where it actually happened. Raves and a Rude Merc 190E work as portals between time periods. It's not a chronological timeline, it's a story retold, and hidden inside it are easter eggs only real fans, friends and the people who built the legacy with him will catch. That's the point. The film was made for the audience who recognise the corners.

The visual language is cinematic street photography shot through the devices that documented the era: Sony Ericsson, Nokia, iPhone 4, archive grain. As much Channel U as BBC News as rave DVD. Winter in South East London did the grading for us, steel blues, concrete greys, sodium ambers, wet asphalt, with the AI lighting philosophy kept found-first: shape the practicals, keep the shadows honest.

Underneath it sits the same Latent Ethnography system built for City2City. Deep research gathered Giggs' story, his references and his Peckham across two decades, organised inside the AI so every generated moment belongs to its time. The generative approach let us move through spaces no shoot day could reach, a one-take through a life, while holding the balance between hyperrealism and cultural memory.

Delivered as a 9:16 master and multiple vertical cutdowns for the announcement, launching the GALA '26 presale. Peckham, SE15. First round tickets sold out in under 24 hours and the hero film reached 750k views in the same period

ONE BAG, ONE DAY IN PARIS. LOEWE Client: Speculative for LoeweProject: One Bag, One Day in ParisRole: Director + AI Creative DirectorProduction: Brainclub 5000Deliverables: Six hero films + 50 vertical cutdownsTimeline: 4 weeks

Story before scale. One bag, one city, 24 hours. The Loewe Puzzle bag worn through a full day and night in Paris, told across six chapters, each with its own film: morning to café, gallery to fitting, dusk to dinner, night into the early hours. The spaces are aspirational and iconic, but they are shot the way you actually move through a city, so the audience does not watch the bag so much as walk with it, in a story world, only possible in AI.

The structure is doing the strategic work. Six self-contained chapters means six hero films, each holding on its own, each cutting down natively to vertical and short form, and each targeting a different moment of the day the audience is actually living through. One narrative world produces an entire campaign architecture: a story where a media plan usually sits. This is Story to Video applied to luxury, the same method behind Boxfresh City2City, in a different register.

It is also an argument about what luxury can now afford to do. Six location films across Paris is a seven-figure shoot as conventional production, with the same budget, rather than one film, we create six, and more. As generative production, it is a system: the brand codes for Loewe, the Puzzle's construction and hardware, the palette and light of each chapter, all held at model level so every frame is unmistakably the brand without compromise of brand.
Built as spec to show what AI filmmaking makes possible for a house like Loewe: a campaign that is also a story, at a scale no shoot could afford, delivered at the speed a season actually moves.

What if we made a music video that uses mind control techniques to hynotise the viewer into doing a random act of kindness? Is the question I asked Fatboy Slim. This led to a music video that uses mind control, satarically to do what Norman’s Music does, bring joy to people, through doing random acts of kindness, whenever they hear the songAgentic research was conducted for 48 hours, we then used the collected data to train a custom AI bot that was tasked with injecting the ‘mind control techniques’ not one after the other, but all at once. Subliminal Messages, Optical Illusions, Colour Depth Variation, The Gateway Experience, Snake Charming, and many more techniques were researched and used.

Five weeks in Las Palmas, zero Spanish. So I turned the problem into a brief: could social content itself become the teaching surface?

I used Google's Flow Agent to research me first, my work, my humour, my life, then had it write, cast and generate a series of short form clips teaching Spanish phrases with their English translations. Thirty personalised films, and the phrases get stranger as they go, on purpose: new and novel information is easier to remember, so the absurdity is the pedagogy. A phrase you laugh at is a phrase you keep.

The result is a language course that behaves like a feed. Watchable in the moments you would be scrolling anyway, funny enough to rewatch, and built for one specific student, which is the part that matters. This is what generative systems change about learning content: the research, the scripts, the casting and the films all came from one agent working from one person's context. A first, as far as I can find, in using an agentic pipeline and Omni Flash as a learning surface.

And it worked. I ordered the coffee.

Client: Self-initiatedProject: Agentic FilmmakingRole: Creative Director + Systems DesignerProduction: Brainclub 5000Deliverables: Two agentic-filmmaking proofs of conceptTimeline: Ongoing R&D

The problem with letting a general-purpose agent direct is that you get general-purpose work. So I gave Operator access to Alan, the AI assistant I've been building a personality for over the past year. Alan has opinions. The idea was that if Operator had to run its decisions through him, the choices would come out with a point of view rather than a default.

First test: a tutorial for the world's best sandwich. Low stakes, easy to judge. Operator found its way around the interface, wrote the prompts, and the result was better than it had any right to be. So I pushed it. A one-minute ad for Nike TN trainers.

What happened next I only watched. The two systems talked it through and landed on a Rube Goldberg machine as the idea. Nobody told them to. They could have gone for a sneaker on a plinth and a slogan. Instead they chose something fiddly and slightly absurd, a chain of small mechanical events that eventually delivers the shoe. It's the kind of idea a junior creative pitches and a nervous client kills.

I don't want to oversell a sandwich video and a fake Nike ad. But something did shift. I wasn't collaborating with the AI. The AIs were collaborating with each other, and I'd become the person who sets the brief and decides whether the result is any good. Less director, more commissioner.

Maybe that's where this goes. Not filmmaking without people, but filmmaking where the person's job is to decide what the machines should want, and then get out of the way.
